It is said, that...
Once
upon a time, a shattered trader had trudged what he hoped was a Road of Happy
Destiny. His journey westward, from the Street of Fool’s Gold in Gotham, to
the Town of Tyres, south of the City of Cavalier Indians, (on the shore of a
Great Inland Lake) and somewhat north of the land of the Red Bengal, was complete.
He had sought to restore the fortune he had unwittingly surrendered to
a Demon, whose magic is so cunning, baffling, and powerful that, even to the
present day, it confuses and destroys its victims, and robs gentle-beings of
their birthright.
Bill (son of Will, the Strong) -of no royal or princely blood or name- carried within him Two Great Secrets
needed to forge a defense against this Demon’s malevolent magic.
These Secrets were acquired from
two who had each possessed only One of the Secrets:
The first, (the Physician of the
Worthy Silk) had discovered that the Demon caused an infection in men –
a reaction not alleviated by the Physician’s strongest incantations or potions. He
had thrice given Bill the knowledge that some people had a strong allergy to
the Demon in its various manifestations, and those worthies should avoid the Demon in any form
it might assume. The Physician of the Worthy Silk knew that something more was
required.
